By using this application on your desktop machine, you can author eBooks, eCatalogs, photo and video albums, eCards, eReports and more. Once you’re done authoring your eBook, you can use the same application to publish it to the web. So to sum it up, DeskTop Author provides an efficient and versatile means of authoring and publishing eBooks and other things of the sort.

The DeskTop Author installer is close to 30MB in size. Download this installer, run it, and you will be presented with a comprehensive setup wizard. In just a few clicks you will go through the steps presented by the setup wizard and you will be done with the installation process. Please note that you will be installing a demo version that limits your projects to just two pages.

The project you’re working on is presented front and center on the application’s interface. To the left there’s a Tools panel, to the right there’s an Image Browser, and at the top there’s a File Menu as well as a toolbar that lists icons for various functions DeskTop Author has to offer.

There are lots of properties to play with when creating an eBook: pick width and height, choose if you want a border, pick a custom background color, adjust the text formatting, disable Print, Search, and other functions, pick the page turn speed, set an expiry date, and more. When you’re done creating an eBook, you can preview your work, save the project as a DMl file so you can edit it at a later time, package the eBook, and publish it to the web. All these features and more are put at your disposal by DeskTop Author.

DeskTop Author is not free, it is only free to try. As mentioned above, the trial version will not allow you to create more than 2 pages.
